Seymour's Charter Experiment: Favouring the French Over Kiwi Kids
Opinion Piece
6 December 2024
Unbelievable. Yesterday, David Seymour announced the first six charter schools approved under his $153 million education experiment. Of those six, three are non-Kiwi. One is French, and two are Australian. This isn’t about giving Kiwi kids better opportunities—it’s a globalist agenda designed to cater to elitist interests and mass immigration.
A French School for Remuera’s Elite
Take the Ecole Française Internationale charter school, for example. Nestled in Remuera, it’s nothing more than a playground for Seymour’s rich mates. Teaching predominantly in French, its curriculum is approved by the French government. Yes, you read that right—a foreign government setting the educational agenda for a New Zealand school. This is deeply concerning given President Macron’s woke education reforms in France, focusing on “inequality,” modernizing curricula, and promoting globalist French influence. Macron’s agenda is steeped in liberal values like LGBTQ+ rights, and let’s not forget—he was once a philosophy teacher. How long before those ideas start creeping into Kiwi classrooms?
Even more concerning is Seymour’s transparent goal of using this school to attract French immigrants as workers. By aligning with the French curriculum, the school makes it easier for French families to transition to New Zealand without disrupting their children’s education. This not only boosts French migration but also aids in the recruitment of French workers by Kiwi companies and facilitates the establishment of French businesses here. Why is Seymour prioritizing French workers and businesses over giving opportunities to Kiwis and investing in local talent?
It’s no coincidence that the chair of the Charter Schools Authorisation Board, Justine Mahon, is the former Principal of St Cuthbert’s in Epsom, right in Seymour’s electorate. And let’s not ignore Catherine Isaac, former ACT Party president, sitting on this same board. This isn’t about Kiwi kids—it’s about elitism and globalist networking.
Australian Chains in Our Backyard
If that wasn’t bad enough, Seymour’s approval also includes BUSY School NZ, an outpost of an Australian school chain, and Mastery Schools, another Australian import. Why are we spending Kiwi taxpayer money to bankroll foreign education brands when our own schools are crying out for funding? This is $153 million over four years, funnelled into charter schools that serve foreign interests, not Kiwi families.
Tokenism to Distract
And what about the one Te Reo school Seymour announced? It smacks of tokenism—an attempt to appease Māori and distract from his real agenda of promoting elitist, foreign-focused education. It’s a cynical ploy to try to mask the fact that the majority of his charter schools are tailored for wealthy, globalist interests rather than addressing the real needs of Kiwi kids.
A Globalist Agenda
David Seymour’s globalist agenda is no secret. He wants our charter schools to mimic England’s Free Schools, where less than 33% of primary students are White British. Free Schools cater largely to multicultural and immigrant populations. They prioritize culturally specific education, which might sound nice until you realize that the same approach will likely lead to the rise of Muslim and Hindu schools in New Zealand, while Christian schools like Destiny School face bias and neglect.
At Waitangi this year, Seymour said those who’ve just stepped off the plane should have the same rights as Kiwis born and raised here. That’s shocking. Mass immigration, supported by his policies, will see Māori outnumbered. It’s a replacement plan, plain and simple, one that leaves Māori and all Kiwis vulnerable to losing their identity.
Winston Peters and Luxon: Silent Enablers
Where’s Winston Peters? His silence on this issue is deafening. He compromised Kiwi values for his own political gain—taking the Foreign Affairs portfolio, as usual. It’s not New Zealand First anymore; it’s Winston First. And Luxon? His globalist agenda couldn’t be clearer: mass immigration, replacement ideology, and a sellout to the UN’s globalist vision.
Time to Prioritize Kiwi Education for Kiwi Kids
Charter schools are ideological incubators for woke liberalism and globalist agendas. This isn’t education reform—it’s a betrayal. Seymour, Luxon, and Peters are all rotten apples from a political barrel that’s long been spoiled. It’s time to pick fresh politicians from a fresh, unspoiled tree.
We need to stop this educational madness and put Kiwi kids first. Our education system should serve New Zealanders, not foreign elites or globalist interests.
Seymour is selling our soul, and Māori stand to lose the most. Diversity and multiculturalism, while well-intentioned, are being weaponized to replace the very essence of what it means to be Kiwi. It’s time to draw the line. Prioritize Kiwi education for Kiwi kids.
